Core Operational Stages of a Placer Wash Plant
A placer wash plant functions as a continuous mechanical classification system. The processing circuit follows a logical progression from raw material intake to final clean-up.
Stage 1: Washing & Screening (Gold Wash Trommel):
Raw alluvial ore is fed into the Gold Wash Trommel. High-pressure water jets disintegrate sticky clay matrices, while the rotating inner screen classifies materials by size, sending the target undersized fraction to the recovery circuits.
Stage 2: Primary Gravity Separation (Sluice Box & Gold Concentrator):
The screened slurry flows directly across the Sluice Box to immediately trap heavy coarse gold on specialized mats via gravity. Concurrently, the finer slurry fractions pass through the Gold Concentrator, utilizing high centrifugal G-force to capture elusive micron-sized gold particles.
Stage 3: Secondary Fine Cleaning (Shaker Table):
Concentrates periodically collected from the sluice mats and centrifugal bowls are discharged onto the Shaker Table. Through asymmetrical reciprocating movement and water stratification, high-grade gold sands are precisely separated from remaining heavy minerals and iron sands.
Stage 4: Amalgamation (Mercury Amalgamator):
The highly enriched gold grains from the shaker table are fed into the Mercury Amalgamator. This machine ensures intimate, high-efficiency contact between gold surfaces and mercury to form a solid gold-mercury amalgam paste while discharging light silicates.
Stage 5: Mercury Distillation & Recovery (Amalgam Retort):
The separated solid gold-mercury amalgam paste is placed inside the sealed Amalgam Retort. Upon heating, the mercury vaporizes and condenses back into liquid for environmental safe reuse, leaving behind pure sponge gold inside the chamber.
Stage 6: Final Smelting & Casting (Gold Melting Furnace):
The recovered sponge gold is transferred to the Gold Melting Furnace. Operating at extreme temperatures, it completely liquefies the precious metal, allowing it to be poured into custom molds to cast high-purity gold bars or commercial bullion.
