Gold Separating Machine
A gold separating machine removes gold from clay-bound alluvial gravel by washing, scrubbing and size-classifying the feed before it reaches the recovery stage.
Sinolion builds trommel-type units for placer operations that need high throughput without losing fine gold, from 5 t/h mobile skids up to 350 t/h production plants.
What a Gold Separating Machine Does
In an alluvial operation the raw feed is a mixture of sand, gravel, clay and a very small fraction of gold. A gold separating machine is the first stage that turns that mixture into something a recovery unit can work with.
Its job is not to catch gold. Its job is to break down clay, wash out the light material and hand the concentrator a stream that is uniformly sized and free of lumps.
Get that first stage right and the sluice, the concentrator and the shaking table all work at their rated efficiency instead of compensating for it.
How the Trommel-Type Unit Works
On a gold separating machine the rotating drum is the core. Feed enters the screen cylinder through a hopper, where a round-bar grizzly with 30 mm bars rejects oversize rock before it reaches the deck.
Bar spacing is fixed at order time, and an I-beam grid is available for boulder-heavy loads.
As the drum turns, the tumbling load and a spray manifold across the hopper and drum break down soft clay.

Two woven high-manganese decks then cut the material into size bands in the same pass. A 25 mm inner deck holds back the coarse stone that rolls out through the side chute, while a 6-10 mm outer deck passes the fines that carry the flour gold.
Screen segments bolt out individually, so a worn area is swapped in hours without lifting the drum.
Technical Specifications
The GMTS range covers the practical span of placer operations, from a single-operator claim to a full production pit. Feed acceptance widens from ≤300 mm up to GMTS1225 to ≤400 mm from GMTS1548 upward.
Every gold separating machine in the range is started, loaded and inspected on our factory floor before it is crated.

Design Details That Protect Fine Gold Recovery
Capacity is the number buyers ask about first, but on a gold separating machine the money is usually lost in three places that never appear on a spec sheet.

How a Gold Separating Machine Works
A gold separating machine relies on the principles of gravity and mechanical screening to separate heavy gold particles from lighter sand, gravel, and clay. For sand gold operations, the primary piece of equipment utilized is the trommel screen.
Raw material is fed into the rotating drum of the trommel screen, where high-pressure water jets break apart clay and wash the aggregate. As the drum rotates, the material is classified by size.
Clay handling. Light clay is broken down by the drum's spray manifold and tumbling load. Heavy, clay-cemented ore sits outside this machine's design envelope - for that feed a rotary scrubber is the correct tool.
Screen selection. Aperture is ordered to your mesh spec, because the right opening follows the gold particle size in your ground rather than a catalogue default. The two-deck arrangement lets one machine produce a coarse stream and a fines stream at the same time.

Slurry routing. On the two-outlet configuration, material under 5 mm is discharged to the gold chute and collected through one sluice, while the 5-30 mm fraction leaves through a second outlet.
Nothing drops out of the bottom of the drum, so fine particles are directed to a recovery device instead of to the tailings pile.
Where It Fits in a Complete Alluvial Gold Washing Plant
A gold separating machine is one station in a line, not a standalone product. Upstream it needs a stable feeder and water; downstream it feeds whatever recovery stage matches your gold size distribution.
In our standard module build the line runs feeder, then the washing and sizing drum, then a sluice box 6000 mm long and 1000 mm wide lined with polyethylene recovery carpet for the coarse gold.
Behind it a bank of fully continuous centrifugal concentrators works the -6 mm undersize, each unit rated 2-80 t/h. A plant normally carries two to four of them, so one can be serviced while the others keep producing.
Concentrate from the sluice and from the concentrator bank is then combined and finished on a 6S shaking table, and the furnace pours the result in 10-15 kg batches into 100 g, 200 g, 500 g and 1000 g moulds.
What Recovery Rate Is Realistic
For a plant as a whole, 90-97% is the honest planning range, and where your figure lands depends on how the gold sits in your ground. On the fine fraction, adding centrifugal concentrators lifts recovery to about 98% in our tests under standard gravity conditions.
Which recovery modules you pair with the machine sets that final number, and it is a decision made before the gold separating machine is built rather than after.
Treat both figures as planning aids rather than guarantees, and confirm them against a sample test of your own material.
That is why ore testing and flowsheet design come before the order and not after: the flowsheet states the expected recovery, and that document defines what gets manufactured.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What material can a gold separating machine handle?
A: It is built for loose alluvial and placer feed - river gravels, floodplain sands and reclaimed tailings. Feed acceptance is up to 300 mm to GMTS1225 and up to 400 mm from GMTS1548 upward.
Light clay is handled by the drum's spray manifold and tumbling load. Heavy, clay-cemented ore is outside the design envelope, and a scrubber-based plant is the correct choice there.
Q: How much water does the plant need?
A: Two demands: spray water in the washing drum, and a clean, pressure-stable fluidisation supply for each concentrator. Both are sized for the whole circuit, not the drum alone, which is why we ask about your water source when quoting.
With a settling pond and a return line, most of the process water is recovered and reused rather than drawn fresh.
What is the difference between this machine and a gold washing plant?
The machine is the washing and sizing stage. The plant is the complete line - feeder, drum, water system, recovery and refining modules working together, usually built on skid-mounted modules in flowsheet order.
Q: What recovery rate can I expect?
A: For the plant as a whole, 90-97% is the honest planning range. On the -6 mm concentrate stream, adding centrifugal concentrators reaches about 98% in our tests. Both figures are planning aids rather than guarantees.
Q: What is the smallest order, and how long does it take?
A: The smallest order is a single plant. Standard builds leave the factory in about 15 days, and two or three units together take roughly 30 days. A fully customized flowsheet gets its schedule written into the order.
Q: What about warranty, spares and installation?
A: Main machines carry a 12-month warranty. Spare parts are available worldwide and matched to the model, and installation support is provided by video walk-through or by an engineer dispatched to your site, with operator training included.
