Introduction of soil trommel screen

Jun 04, 2025

Products Description

The soil trommel screen is a cylindrical rotary screening device that uses screens with different apertures on the drum surface to grade and screen materials such as soil, compost, sand and gravel according to particle size. Its core function is to separate mixed materials into fine materials (such as soil and fine sand) and coarse materials (such as stones and residual film).

1. Working principle

Rotary screening: The material enters the inclined drum from the feed inlet (the inclination is usually 3°–5°, adjustable to 45°), and tumbles with the rotation of the drum.

Layered separation: Fine particles fall into the collection hopper below through the sieve holes, and coarse particles move forward along the spiral blades of the drum to the discharge end.

Anti-blocking design: The built-in self-cleaning brush improves the fluidity of the material and prevents wet and sticky materials from clogging the sieve holes.

2. Innovative technology

Vibration unit: The rotating block drives the impact rod to cyclically knock on the screen drum, which is especially suitable for the screening of sticky soil conditioners.

Offset spiral blades: Improve the separation efficiency of residual film and soil. Experimental verification shows that the soil removal rate can reach 94.5%.

Split screen: Quickly replace the screen to meet different particle size requirements (screen hole range 3-10mm).

3. Application scenarios

The versatility of the soil drum screen makes it play a key role in many fields:
Agriculture and compost production: Screening impurities in compost to improve the quality of organic fertilizer; Separating residual film and soil in farmland to reduce pollution (such as Shihezi University patent equipment).

Construction and mining: Processing construction waste (concrete, masonry), grading recycled aggregates; Sorting ore sand, quartz sand, etc.
Environmental remediation: Screening of polluted soil (removing heavy metal blocks, plastics), solid waste resource utilization (such as river sludge dehydration).

Other fields: Sawdust fuel grading, biomass particle screening, palm shell processing, etc.

4. Performance advantages and characteristics

High efficiency and energy saving:
Energy consumption is 30-70% lower than that of vibrating screens, and the processing capacity is 20-30 m³/h (small machine).
The self-cleaning design reduces downtime maintenance and has strong continuous operation.

Flexible Adaptability:
The mobile design (tracks/tires) is suitable for complex sites such as field construction sites and mines.
The screening angle and speed are adjustable, compatible with dry/wet materials (such as clay after rain).

Environmental protection and economy:
The closed structure + dust removal interface meets dust emission standards (such as Australian environmental regulations).
Low maintenance cost, 1-year warranty for core components, and the unit price of domestic equipment starts at about $6,300 (such as the GTS series).

The soil trommel screen achieves efficient grading in soil remediation, compost production, and building recycling through rotary screening + self-cleaning technology. Its core advantages are low energy consumption, strong adaptability and modular design. In the future, it will further integrate intelligent control and environmental protection technology to promote the development of resource recycling. Equipment selection needs to comprehensively consider material properties (humidity, viscosity) and processing scale, and give priority to solutions with customizable screens and mobility configurations.
