Centrifugal Concentrator, All You Want To Know Is Here

Dec 28, 2023

Centrifugal concentrator is referred to as centrifuge, also known as centrifugal chute. It is currently the most advanced gravity mineral processing equipment. It is widely used to recover tungsten, tin, iron and other sludge. A centrifugal concentrator is a machine that uses centrifugal force to separate liquids from solid particles or components in a liquid-liquid mixture.

There are many types of centrifuges, but their structures are basically the same. The centrifuge generates a large centrifugal force when rotating at high speed, which strengthens the gravity separation process and thereby recovers fine mineral particles more effectively. Its emergence successfully solves the comprehensive recovery of fine particulate matter.

Working principle of centrifugal separation and concentrator:
The hollow shaft of the centrifugal gold separator can be driven by the belt through the motor driving part, causing the rotating inner sleeve to rotate at high speed to generate centrifugal force. The slurry enters the rotating inner sleeve through the feed pipe, and the slurry particles are separated under the action of the centrifugal force field. Heavy minerals remain in the guide channel of the rotating inner sleeve, while light minerals are discharged through the tailings tank. After a series of operations, the concentrate is discharged through the concentrate discharge port.

Advantages of centrifugal mineral processing equipment:
A. Because the centrifugal concentrator uses centrifugal force to strengthen the gravity separation process and shorten the separation time, its processing capacity is large, about 10 times that of the automatic chute.

B. Small footprint and high degree of automation.

C. High enrichment ratio and high recovery rate. The centrifugal gold separator is more effective in processing fine sludge, and the recovery rate for particles with a size of 37-19 microns is as high as about 90%. Since the separation of ore particles in the centrifugal concentrator is based on the joint action of centrifugal force and side flow membrane, the total enrichment ratio is higher than that of the planar gravity chute.

D. No chemicals added, environmentally friendly.

E. Low production cost, good wear resistance of wearing parts and simple maintenance.

F. Compact design, small footprint, easy to integrate into the existing process of the mineral processing plant.

Disadvantages of centrifugal gold separator:
A. Water and electricity consumption are greater than that of a flat chute;

B. The slope of the drum wall cannot be adjusted;

C. The production process is an intermittent operation and cannot be fed continuously.

Precautions for centrifugal concentrator equipment:
(1) Cotton or test tube pad should be placed at the bottom of the centrifuge shell.

(2) When the electric centrifuge makes noise or body vibration, the power supply should be cut off immediately and the fault should be eliminated immediately.

(3) When starting the centrifuge, first cover the top cover of the centrifuge and then start slowly.

(5) After the separation is completed, turn off the centrifuge first. After the centrifuge stops rotating, you can open the centrifuge cover and take out the sample. Do not use external force to force it to stop.

(6) The centrifugation time is generally 1 to 2 minutes. During this period, operators are not allowed to leave to do other things.
